ABOUT THE SURVEY
The survey forms part of a research project by Medical Students from the University of Leeds looking at self reported injury profiles of MMA athletes at both amateur and professional levels.
To achieve this the team has designed a questionnaire that is anonymous and takes about 5 mins to fill (depending on how many injuries you have!). If completed it would be the first picture of Injuries in the UK.
The survey is lead by Dr. Samit Ghosh who is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon with special interests in Facial Plastic surgery and also Sports injuries of the Head and Neck. He works at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has had an interest in MMA for the last 4 years, having treated many MMA athletes through his practice.
Once completed the aim is to publish this paper in Peer reviewed Journals and present at national/ International Meetings of Sports Medicine. Dr. Ghosh has stated that this is entirely not for profit, with no conflicting interests:
“We wish the results of this to inform the health and medical support of MMA participants thus would like the results to be completely accessible to all.”
