UKMMAF Championships Brings Amateurs Under Safe MMA

The United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF) and BAMMA have joined forces to present the first annual BAMMA UKMMAF National Amateur MMA Championships, currently in progress at BodyPower Expo 2016 this weekend (May 13-15) at the NEC Arena, Birmingham.

In a first step for Amateur MMA in the UK, the tournament takes place under Safe MMA protocol with all competitors having completed blood tests and annual medical examinations to participate. Usual injury suspensions criteria applies.

The Amateur MMA championships are planned as a staple in the UK MMA calendar following the success of this weekend’s inaugural event which sees the country’s finest amateur talent compete for the title of national champion and for a place on the UK squad for International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) world competitions.

The first IMMAF European Open Championships, which took place in Birmingham in November 2015, saw IMMAF adopt Safe MMA athlete clearance services for all its Amateur MMA competitions.
