- THE SSE HYDRO, GLASGOW (SCOTLAND, UK)
(London. 1 October, 2016) Safe MMA has confirmed that all 40 professional MMA athletes competing at Absolute Championship Berkut 47 have been medically approved as fit to compete at tonight’s show at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. The event sees the Russian promotion make its debut on UK soil.
Safe MMA is an independent advisory and services provider that offers third party medical clearance for MMA competitors in the UK and Ireland. Under its minimum safety guidelines, MMA fighters are required to pass standardised annual medical examinations and tests for blood borne viruses (HIV, Hepatitis B and C) in order to participate on affiliated shows. Post-bout medical suspensions and examinations are then submitted to Safe MMA, so that suspensions can be observed by other affiliated promotions.
As well voluntarily adhering to regional medical guidelines, ACB is further showing its commitment to the development of local regulation in its utilisation of officials provided by the United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF).
The ACB management team issued the following statement:
“We are pleased to have successfully met Safe MMA medical criteria in the clearance of athletes to compete on tonight’s show. That all fighters have been independently approved as fit to compete to a recognised standard gives ACB confidence as a promoter that correct pre-event safety measures have been put in place. We would like to thank Doctors Saam Falahati and Mohammed Mustafa for their support in ensuring that all competitors completed the required examinations, and also all the fighters, coaches and managers that complied to make this a success.”
